Forfar Bridie Recipe cooked in an airfryer.
When men aren't thinking about women and beer they are thinking about pies. And now I have made Forfar Bridies I'm thinking about making them again and going to the pub later.
Easy to make and good hot and cold. I make my own shortcrust pastry, but I like making pastry. Bridie are also made with a puff pastry or shop bought. Anyway these pies are all about the filling.Ingredients to make two
Beef mince 1/2lb
Onion
Mustard 1tsp
Mace powder (I used a bit of Nutmeg) half tsp
White pepper
Shortening Atora two tblsp
Worcester Sauce splash
Salt
Egg for a wash
Soften finely chopped onion in a frying pan with little oil, then combine and mix all ingredients up well with the mince.
The Bridie is supposed to be a horse shoe shape, so use a Pyrex dish or something that is a bit more of an oval shape as a template to cut your pasty out. Put some of the uncooked filling in the pastry and fold over, then crimp the sides as you can see on the picture. Brush with an egg wash and put two holes in (show's it has onions in, one hole if just meat) and put in an airfryer at 180 for about fifty mins.
Enjoy!
