Baked apples with Dates

Sometimes we forget something as simple for pudding as a baked apple, despite looking at our garden's fruit trees laden late October albeit whilst the rain runs down the kitchen window.

We have an abundance of Bramley apples which work better for baking as they are larger and cookers, ordinary apples will work, just add more sugar.

Take your apple and core, or rather dig out with a potato peeler to leave a hole, then mix a tblsp of brown sugar, a 1/2tsp of cinnamon, then add chopped dates, then fill your apple till overflowing, add a few drops of lemon juice then wrap in baking paper and bake your apples for thirty minutes at 180 until almost soft, serve with a scoop of ice cream.

A simple, yet lovely dish.
